Serial-to-Ethernet Converter?

Hi,,

I have one Cisco 1603 router which got only one Serial & one 10/T Ethernet port,
I need a converter which I can connect top on serial port to connect to my ADSL router via Ethernet port, (this will be used as home router for my practice, thus I don’t want to go for any costly modules…)
Can any one kindly advice/share a link from I can get these type of converter..

Hi,

the serial and the ethernet connectors are different not only how they look but also by the type of voltage on layer 1 and encapsulation on layer 2. They can’t be electrically converted, you will need a bridge or a router to convert between the two. You can connect to the ADSL router and a PC using a simple hub or switch and practice some basic concepts with just one port on a router. This concept is called router-on-a-stick. For a more advanced lab environment you should consider a more sophisticated router with enough interfaces.
