Cisco WS-C2950-12

We are looking for four to five 8 to 12 port Cisco switch whose ports can be set to VLAN trunking mode. We need to use this in a temporary wireless network. We have no need for Cisco support and will just purchase enough for replacement is it fails. Will we need anything more if we purchase this product from you. What is your policy if we receive one that is dead or have dead ports.

The 2950-12 does support vlan trunking. Nothing additional is needed provided it has software version 12.0(5)WC or later to support that feature. You would need to speak with a sale rep directly about searching our inventory for a part with that specific software on it.

Nothing we sell should arrive dead because we thoroughly test everything before it ships out. However, if that were to happen we would replace the part for you at no cost.

We are deploying CNet Ip Cameras, and want to have them accessible through Internet. We need to make port forwarding for such a manageable switch is required.
does this switch allows port forwarding ? if so is the manual explicit on the configuration

The WS-C2950-12 is a layer-2 switch. The port forwarding is a layer-3/layer-4 technology and requires a layer-3 (router) device to be configured on. There are layer-3 switches and you may want to take a look at a WS-C3550-12T if you’re looking for 12 ports. This 3550 does support port forwarding. Or you can have a layer-2 switch like the WS-C2950-12 accompanied by a router, like CISCO2611XM for example.
